Trailing clouds of glory as we come. . .

So, my older son, Marcus asks me last night if he could talk to God and then folded his arms.

I said, "Of course. Here's how we start: 'Dear Heavenly Father-'"

"Mother?" He says, staring up at me with the bluest eyes you've ever seen.

"Mother?" He says again.

"Yes," I say, "her, too"

"Ok." He says and bows his head again to continue the prayer.

"We say thank you for our blessings: daddy, mommy, baby Milo, Grandma and Grandpa. . ." and so on and so forth.

While I try to get him to close the prayer he takes over and adds his own little two cents worth: "Blessings, baby, thank you. Blessings, daddy at work with Trent, thank you. Amen."

Applause.

He claps after everything.

I'm interested in the fact that he had to include "mother" with "father." Does this mean I'm doing my job correctly or he's just that much farther ahead of me spiritually?

In any case, it's cute that instead of asking to pray he asks to talk to "God."

Wow.

To Begin With. . .

So I'm going to try and have a family blog. Complete with all our adventures out here in Eastino. Super Mercado. The Drive-by. All of it.

Since it's late and I'm medicated and tired I thought I'd bust out a few quotes from two ladies I'm basically obsessed with right now. The amazing Gloria Steinem and the tenacious Tori Amos.

Enjoy! And stay tuned for next weeks program!

Childbirth is more admirable than conquest, more amazing than self-defense, and as courageous as either one. -Gloria Steinem

We've begun to raise daughters more like sons... but few have the courage to raise our sons more like our daughters. -Gloria Steinem

“I usually get myself into situations that cause sparks. I mean I'm a girl that likes the storms. I love feeling alive, I love walking out in the cold in my bare feet and feeling the ice on my toes.”
-Tori Amos

“In our minds, love and lust are really separated. It's hard to find someone that can be kind and you can trust enough to leave your kids with, and isn't afraid to throw her man up against the wall and lick him from head to toe.” -Tori Amos

Love,
H
